mofumanju is the artist's pseudonim of a talented Italian self-taught illustrator: Nari.
She streams live on Twitch, she uploads some of her speedpaints on Youtube and she's very active on Twitter and Instagram. She needed a cohesive visual identity to use on all her platforms, so I worked on different assets for her social media presence and for her ko-fi page.
For this project, I explored different concepts with Nari and tried to create a Brand Image that was both feminine and romantic.
The first approved concept gravitates towards a "Roman-Japanese" style: for the logo, I've created a custom-made hiragana typography heavily inspired by the Taishō era (1912-1926) and matching iconography to fit the retro and romantic style.
In 2023, I teamed up with Nari again to make a fresh rebrand of all her assets, pushing the whole brand image towards a more modern yet cute feeling.
The main focus of the rebrand was the bunny-shaped "manju", a japanese soft bun pastry that compose part of her go-to pseudonim.
While working on the rebrand project, I put a lot of thoughts on the watermark's versatility.
Since I knew it would be mainly used directly over her art, I decided to make it in different colour variations, so it would've been easier to adapt to different backgrounds.
